This privacy policy describes how Kain Carlson ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information gathered through kaincarlson.com (the "Site"). By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide voluntarily, such as your name, email address, phone number, and any details you include in a quote request or contact form submission. We do not collect payment information through this Site.

If you take the two-minute read at /quiz, the answers you select, together with the name, email, company, and optional phone number you enter, are used to build your read, deliver it by email, and make the one follow-up call described on the quiz itself. Nothing further follows from taking it.

If you leave the read before entering any contact details, the answers you selected are still recorded, without your name or any contact information, together with a session identifier and the network address the request came from. We use them to understand how the read is used and to guard against abuse. They are not used to identify you or to contact you.

We may also collect limited technical data automatically, including your IP address, browser type, and referring URL, through standard web server logs and analytics tools.

2. How We Use Your Information

Information you submit through the Site is used solely to respond to your inquiry, provide a quote, or follow up as requested. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.

We may use your contact information to send you information relevant to your insurance coverage, such as renewal reminders, policy updates, or market changes that affect your coverage. You may opt out of these communications at any time.

We keep what you submit for as long as it remains relevant to responding to you or meeting legal record requirements. Records of contact preferences, such as a request not to be emailed or called, are kept permanently so they can be honored.

If you ask for a guide or sign up for the occasional note, we send a confirmation email first and act only when you click the link in it. We keep a record of what you asked for, the wording you saw, and the date, time, and internet address of the request and of the confirmation, so we can show that you asked. Every note carries a one-click stop; a stop is recorded permanently and honored immediately. Requests that are never confirmed are deleted after thirty days.

3. Third-Party Services

The Site relies on a small set of service providers to operate: Vercel hosts the Site, Supabase provides the database where form and quiz submissions are stored, Resend delivers the email the Site sends, and Cal.com provides scheduling when you book a time. Each processes information only to provide its service, and each has its own privacy policy. The Site does not run advertising trackers. We do not control these services and are not responsible for their privacy practices.

Links to third-party websites (such as carrier portals or Employee Navigator) are provided for convenience only. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites.

4. Cookies

The Site may use cookies or similar tracking technologies to improve user experience and gather aggregate analytics. Cookies are small text files stored on your device. You can configure your browser to refuse cookies, though some features of the Site may not function correctly without them.

5. Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect information you submit through the Site. However, no transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Do not submit highly sensitive information (such as Social Security numbers, financial account details, or health and medical information) through the Site's forms.

6. Children's Privacy

This Site is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information through this Site, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date above. Continued use of the Site after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
